59th Annual Bluff Park Art Show Shirts
We are so excited to announce that our shirts for the 59th annual Bluff Park Art Show are here! Every year we release a new shirt. This year’s shirt will be available to purchase at the show on October 1st.
This year’s shirts are in honor of Donna Leigh Jackins. Donna was a long-time board member and supporter of the arts in Hoover. The image on the shirt comes from a paper collage quilt she made titled Crazy Bama Quilt. Donna passed away on September 16, 2021, just a few weeks before last year's show.
In her own words, "I am a Southern, American, female artist. At age 4 (maybe 3) someone gave me a box of crayons and I've been making art ever since. For years I was a painter, then a paper maker, then a quilter - an art quilter. Sometimes as I play with words a poem emerges. It then becomes part of the art - part of the quilt. Original art - original poetry - that is my offering. I seek no profound statements about society; instead, I would attempt to interject a sense of the positive. That's the way I feel thus that's the way I work. I make art because I cannot NOT make art. If my quilts/paintings/sculptures/poems don't put a smile in your life then you have not read them the way I wrote them."
"Donnie" lit up the room with creativity, intelligence, humor, and irreverence. She has left her mark on her friends, family, the art community and now the 59th Annual Bluff Park Art Show.
