Welcome New Bluff Park Art Association Board Member: George Elliott

George Elliott is a landscape photographer who is no stranger to the Bluff Park Art Show, having exhibited for many years. “Artists look forward to the show because they know it is a quality event, and the crowds are great each year because they know this, too. Over the years, it has built a legacy to be admired.”

In his other careers he served as the Director of Public Relations for BellSouth’s Alabama Operations; as Executive Director of the Nonprofit Resource Center of Alabama, which provided training and counseling to over 700 nonprofits throughout the state; and as an adjunct professor of public relations at The University of Alabama/Tuscaloosa, UAB and Samford University.

Prior to moving to Bluff Park in 2021, Elliott and his family lived in Vestavia Hills for over 34 years. While there, he was a member of the first graduating class of Leadership Vestavia Hills. He also was on the Vestavia City School Board from 1998-2003, serving as President in 2003.

Elliott and his wife, Jerrie, are co-founders of The Amelia Center, a grief assistance service of Children’s Health System, that seeks to bring hope to parents who have lost children and siblings who have lost parents, siblings or other loved ones. The Center is named in honor of Amelia Elliott, their 17-year-old daughter who died in 1995. Over 30,000 individuals have been helped since the Center began operations in July 1997.

During his career with BellSouth, Elliott became a Leadership Birmingham graduate. He also served on a number of community Boards, including being a Founding Member of the Board of Trustees of The McWane Center.
